Barbara Ann (Clemens) Thomas, age 74 of Nevada City, California, passed away July 18th, 2023, after a long-fought battle with both Lyme and Parkinson’s disease. Born May 11th, 1949, in Seattle, Washington, she spent most of her formative years living in New Alexander, Ohio, with her parents Daniel and Elva Clemens as well as her five siblings, Robert, Carol, Thomas, Samuel and Timothy.

Barbara graduated from Hanoverton, Ohio’s United High School in 1967. She attended Kent State University and trained to become an x-ray technician at Salem Hospital. Barbara met her future husband John while at university. They were married on July 25th, 1970, and moved to Los Angeles, California, where she trained to become an ultrasound technician. After their two children were born, they decided to move north to Nevada City, California, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to raise their family. She went back to college and earned her associate degree while working at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and caring for her family.

Barbara was known for her unfailing capacity to love and support all those she knew and took a lifelong interest in their safety and happiness.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Thomas, daughter, Jodi (Thomas) Jones, son, Shaun Thomas and six grandchildren, Alexander, Raistlin, Aurora, Grace, Violet, and William.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father Daniel Clemens, mother Elva Clemens and sister Carol Clemens.

It was Barbara’s wish to be cremated and she requested that no formal memorial services be held. However, her family would like to encourage friends and family to reach out and share their memories of Barbara’s life.
