Bruce Leland Rayner, 85, of Nevada City, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, with his loving soulmate, Sue, at his side.

He was born in Skokie, Illinois, to William L. and Roberta L. Rayner. (Deceased) He is survived by his loving partner, Sue Dunn, of Reno, NV; his daughter, Dr. Danalyn Rayner Harper (John), and grandsons, Luke and Jag Harper of Madison, WI; his siter Karlyn Rayner Kamm (Ed) of Colleyville, TX; niece, Kari Kamm Caldwell (Brandon) of Boynton Beach, FL; nephew, Ross Kamm (Krista), of Colleyville, TX; eight grand nephews, and numerous cousins.

At an early age, Bruce moved to DeWitt, NY, and grew up fascinated with audio production technology. In his teens, he was an announcer for the WNDR radio station in Syracuse, NY. He went on to Brown University earning a degree in engineering and began work with General Electric Company in Syracuse in the mid-1960s. In 1970, he moved to Grass Valley, CA and began working for Grass Valley Group engineering company. He received an Emmy award for his work on split screen technology, first used on TV at the end of the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria.

Bruce retired in 2000 and formed his own company in which he sold computer editing software. He traveled worldwide teaching technicians how to implement his product.

In 2017 he met Sue, and they spent many wonderful hours traveling in “Big Blue” (a tractor trailer/camper that Bruce built), visiting relatives around the country, bicycling Europe, skiing on every big mountain, and enjoying life on their “golden” pond with Penny, their standard poodle.
