He was a Navy Veteran who served honorably on the USS Walton. He later worked for Western Electric in San Leandro CA as a Methods Analyst for 35 years. Former Boy Scout leader in San Lorenzo CA. He enjoyed rock hounding, including dino digs in Montana, local mining and working with local train restoration. He also enjoyed many types of dancing including line dancing.

He leaves behind the mother to his children Paula Hurtado, daughter Kimberley Dicker and son-in-law Gregory Dicker, daughters Leslie Parrish and Heidi Topete. Grandchildren Gregory J Dicker, Jeanette Dicker, Marie Luciano, Louie Hurtado, Marie Rinehart, Jessica Weaver, Katrina Webb, Carlos Topete and Dustin Niedt.12 great-grandchildren.
