Jim Moon, Jr. passed away on January 4, 2026. He was 65.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Western Gateway Park with a Memorial Softball Tournament to follow.

Jim was born December 1, 1960 in Grass Valley, CA to Jim and Eileen Moon. He grew up in Nevada City. He graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1979. He worked for PG&E for 30 years.

He loved to play softball, camp, hike and do anything outdoors.

Jim is survived by his wife Cindy (Tennell) whom he married on April 5, 1981, his four children, Suzanne (Mitch) Morse, Erica (Chris) Salter, Andrew (Callie) Moon, and Skyler (Sydney) Moon. He was proud to be called Papa by his ten grandchildren Alexis, JJ, Maverick, Violet, Magnolia, Vaughn, Tillie, Vivian, Gwyneth, and Theo. He also leaves his parents Jim and Eileen Moon, his sister Clara (Art) DeLuca, Coral Moon and Shannan (Amy) Moon, and his in-laws Mike and Terry Robinson, Mike and Kathy Piper.

He’s preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Ruby Ryberg, Allen and Ada Moon and his brother Lance Moon.
