Born on August 17, 1936, in San Diego, Robert, affectionately known as Bob, dedicated his life to education, serving as a teacher and school administrator in public schools. His commitment to nurturing young minds was paralleled only by his deep love for his family and community.

Bob was a graduate of Bishop Manogue High School and held a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Education from University of Nevada Reno.

Bob proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959, continuing his service in the Navy Reserves for an additional eight years. His military tenure was marked by a steadfast dedication to his country, a trait that he carried into his civilian life.

A devout Catholic, Bob was active at St. Patrick’s Church, where he was a devoted member for over 25 years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with all. Bob’s commitment to his community extended through his active participation in the Knights of Columbus as a proud Fourth Degree member, Veterans organizations, and his support for his wife Beverly’s service with the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Bob’s passions included gardening, music, and teaching others. He created beauty in his garden and shared the joy of music, often leading friends and family in song. His kindness, love and compassion touched the lives of many, as he made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Bobby, Cathy Shaffer, Jim, Michael, and Amy Cate, his grandchildren, Jacob, Bobby Jr., Josiah, Shamus, Lanice, Maya and a large extended family. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Beverly, his sister Barbara Fisher, and parents Bert and Marge Moncrieff.
