Ned Finkelstein
September 14, 1946 – August 13, 2025
Ned Finkelstein was born on September 14, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA and passed away on August 13, 2025 at home in Grass Valley with wife Darlene Mick.
Ned graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia and joined the US Navy in 1965. He served two tours to Viet Nam and was honorably discharged in 1969.
Ned is survived by his wife Darlene and her two sons Adam and Sean, his sister Zelda (Zee) Gamson, brother Harry Keshet, his children Tricia and David, and sister Anita in Denmark. Also many nieces and nephews.
Ned retired from Standard Concrete in 2011 where he was a mixer driver for many years. After retirement Ned took writing classes at Cal State Fullerton, became a member of the International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santa’s in Southern California, and was in training at the Museum of Tolerance in LA to be a docent. Ned moved to Grass Valley in 2018. Music was his passion. It was a daily practice for him to blast rock and roll.
Ned died in peace with the help of Hospice. Burial will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA on September 4, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held in September.
