Betty Ann Foley

December 12, 1930 -July 2, 2025
Betty was born on December 12, 1930, in Kankakee IL to Ralph and Darlene Walker. An adventurous soul, at 20 years old, Betty and her best friend flipped a coin to decide whether to move to California or Florida. They boarded a train to Los Angeles, shed their long wool coats, and never looked back.
Betty, always a hard worker who literally never missed one day of work in her life, began a job at Pacific Telephone Company. On January 14, 1956, she married the love of her life, Thomas Foley. They shared 50 years of marriage, raising five children, always enjoying time with their kids and beloved grandchildren, until Tom’s passing in 2007. More grandchildren followed,13 in all, plus three great grandchildren so far. Betty passed knowing more grandchildren were getting married and would soon add more great grandchildren who we know she will love and adore from Heaven above. Betty’s professional career spanned decades supporting a local real estate office, to over 20 years at Chevron Corporation as a valued executive assistant.
Betty is survived by her younger sister, Joyce Walters, and her five children. Patrick Foley (Tracie), Michael Foley (Stephanie), Donna Gulsvig (James), Kathleen Grant (Merrill) and Karen MacDonald (James) and her adored 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Betty loved traveling, playing games, entertaining and attending every family sporting event or performance. She was the heart of every gathering and the keeper of family traditions. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome and her kindness extended well beyond her family to friends and neighbors alike. Betty leaves behind a family who loved her, and she will always be in their hearts.
The family would like to thank Golden Empire nursing and rehab in Grass Valley for their compassion and care over the last year.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Patrick’s Church in Grass Valley, California to honor Betty’s life and legacy Tuesday, July 22 at 11:30 AM. There will be a commitment ceremony at Saint Patrick Cemetery, and reception to follow in Lake Wildwood.
Please RSVP to 530-432-8755 or email pjfolsr@yahoo.com for the reception.
