Raymond F. (Ray) Lindner

Raymond F. (Ray) Lindner, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and quiet strength.
Born April 25, 1936, in Garland, Nebraska, to Gustav and Dorothea Lindner, Ray was the second of four siblings. He attended Seward Lutheran Elementary and was confirmed at Seward Lutheran Church, later graduating from Seward High School in the early 1950s.
In December 1954, Ray enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably until 1958. That same year, he began a distinguished 35-year career as an aerospace engineer with Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin), first in Denver, Colorado, and later at Vandenberg Air Force Base. He retired in 1993.
In November 1960, Ray married the love of his life, Phyllis Cortner. Together they shared a beautiful life, blessed with two daughters, Carolyn Lindner DiMercurio and Kristin Lindner Young.
In 1994, Ray and Phyllis moved to Grass Valley, California, where they embraced retirement in their cozy log cabin in the woods. Ray found joy in nature—fishing, gardening, and RVing—and cherished time with his many dear friends.
A man of strong faith, Ray was a deeply involved member of Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley, serving as Alderman, Sunday School teacher, Eucharistic Minister, usher, and council member. He was also one of the founding members of the church’s Mission Endowment Fund. In recent years, Ray worshipped at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Auburn, CA.
He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, and the countless ways he gave of himself in service to others.
Ray is survived by his brother, Roger Lindner, daughters – Carolyn DiMercurio and Kristin Young, grandchildren Lauren, Ian and Samuel, and great grandchildren Danni, Alice, Landon and Liam
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Dorothea Lindner, siblings Dessalee Rouselle, and Leora Sells, and his beloved wife Phyllis.
