Virginia Lee Caldwell Hullender

Virginia Lee Caldwell Hullender passed away on May 25, 2025, at home with her daughter. She was 98.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley.
Virginia was born on Feb. 2, 1927, in Los Angeles, to Clay and Jessie Caldwell. She attended Grass Valley High School and later lived in four states and Canada before retiring 40 years ago with her husband, Bill back to Grass Valley.
She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, and was a Life Master. She enjoyed books, many cruises, and ballroom dancing. She was a “Pink Lady” Volunteer at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She loved pets, especially cats.
She was a wonderful homemaker, always ready for a new adventure.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Mackie of Grass Valley, grandson, Michael Mackie of Phoenix, AZ, and brother, John Caldwell of Ripon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Jessie Caldwell; brother, Don Caldwell; husband, Bill Hullender; and son, Stephen Caldwell.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, or to an animal organization of your choice.
