Dorothey Jean Zoellin

September 15, 1935 – September 16, 2024

Dorothey Jean (Roberts) Zoellin passed away as she entered her 89th year on September 16, 2024. Dorothey is survived by her three children and their spouses: Robert (Teresa), William (Julie), and Cynthia Grapel (Gene). She leaves 7 grandchildren,11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was greeted by her beloved husband, Gene Zoellin; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Martha (Bill) Wasley, Ann (Edward) Park, Mary (Fred) Salter, Betty (Russell) Holland, and Florence (Stanley) Jones; Genes father, Joseph Charles; mother, Sylvia Emma; and brothers, Joseph Richard (Evelyn) and Robert Lee; many good friends and coworkers; as well as, numerous adopted pets.

Dorothey was born on September 15, 1935 in Stockton, California. She was the youngest of the six Roberts girls. Dorothey was a part of Nevada City High Schools Class of 1954.

Dorothey met the love of her life, Gene, at her mom’s diner in Avenal, California, after he returned from the Korean War. The family moved to Nevada City in 1964 and bought the house they would live in and turn into their own proud home.

A service is planned at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary on Tuesday, May 20th- what would have been Dorothey and Genes 70th anniversary. Cousin Eric Clark will officiate the 2pm service with a gathering to follow. Dorothey will be interred at San Joaquin Memorial Cemetery in Santa Nella, California alongside Gene.
