Jeffrey Frost M.D.

January 31, 1947 – April 16, 2025

Dr. Jeffrey B. Frost MD passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2025, in Nevada City California. He was 78 years old.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and physician.

Jeffrey was born in Madison Wisconsin on January 31, 1947. He was the 5th of six children of Tom and Marie Frost.

For nearly five decades, Dr. Jeffrey provided compassionate care to the Grass Valley and Nevada City communities as a board-certified internist, culminating in his distinguished role as Chief of Medicine at Sierra Nevada Hospital.

He attended his father’s Alma Mater Notre Dame University and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He did his internship at Maricopa County hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and his residency at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

He moved to Nevada City, California in 1975 and was married to Carol Erickson where they lovingly raised three children – Amy Hurst, Kristin Ross, and Liz Frost.

Jeffrey fell in love with skiing while attending the University of Freiburg and learned to ski in the Bavarian alps. Naturally, he was enthralled with Nevada City’s proximity to Lake Tahoe where he took every opportunity to ski the local mountains every winter.

During the summer his outdoor passion was for hiking the foothills of the local Sierra Mountains. He and his fellow hikers would take to week long treks and camping throughout the very heart of nature.

Jeff also loved playing Golf. He was a longtime member of Alta Sierra Country Club.

While in High School Jeff was a Cross-Country runner. He ran in Statewide competitions and received four varsity letters.

As a Catholic Jeff raised his family and was a long-time parishioner of St. Canice Church in Nevada City.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife Carol, his three children, three granddaughters: Cora, Emma, and Olivia, two grandsons: Caleb and Wesley, sister Elizabeth, and brothers Nick, Tom and Michael. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Marie Frost and his sister Mary Frost Kroncke.

His final resting place will be in Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.

Jeffrey was brilliant, humorous and had a zest for life that was unmatched. He will be eternally missed.
