Dolores was born on Sept. 30th, 1929 in Braddock, PA, daughter to Harold and Anna Hohman. She lived in Duquesne and Tarentum, PA where she and her three siblings Audrey Bain, Norma Derrick and Dr. Robert Hohman grew up in a loving home. Dolores graduated from Tarentum High School in 1947 as salutatorian of her class. She married her high school sweetheart Gilson Ernest Smith Jr. on October 8th, 1949 and they began living their life as an Air Force military family at Tyndall AFB, FL. It was there where Dolores began the amazing and wonderful life of motherhood by giving birth to her first six children (Alan, David, Glenn, Linda, Ellen and Amy). After a brief stay in Bethel Park, PA, while Gilson was serving a remote tour of duty in Iceland, the family moved to Williams AFB, AZ where her seventh child (Douglas) was born. As military life would have it, the family moved to Mather AFB, Rancho Cordova, CA, where her eighth child (Julie) was born. In 1970, the family began the transition from military life to civilian life. Once again Dolores prepared the family for the move to Johnson City, NY where she continued a very active life of raising her children while actively participating in church activities and teaching at Julie’s elementary school. Seven years later, Dolores and Gilson moved to San Jose, CA. Dolores became even more active in Ascension Church in Saratoga, CA. She earned her accreditation as a Master Catechist and became the head of religious education for many years, while bringing family love and values to all those around her. Eleven years later and ready for retirement life, Dolores and Gilson prepared for a final move to Lake Wildwood, Penn Valley, CA. There they lived in a beautiful golf course view home surrounded by friends and family which included 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and continued to be active in the local catholic church. After 65 years of marriage, she lost Gilson, the love of her life, who passed away in 2014. With the love and support of all her children, Dolores made a few moves and spent the last years of her life living with her daughter Ellen in Martinez, GA where she was loved and cared for by family and her loving caregiver Kim Albea until she was put in the hands of God and now is with her husband in heaven. Dolores’ life was filled with love, caring and taking advantage of many moments and holidays to be with and guide those around her.

Her interest included: Celebrating and cooking on holidays with family, golfing with her husband and the ladies group, church activities, playing liverpool, mahjong and pinochle card games with family and friends, involved with book club with neighborhood friends, gardening with her husband, traveling the world, and sitting on the back porch looking over the golf course fairway while the deer and other wild animals gathered in the twilight evenings.

She had a strong catholic faith, great sense of humor, was very strong willed, and was a caring and loving mother.

Dolores is survived by her sons: Alan (wife Jane) Smith, David (wife Rosalinda) Smith, Glenn (wife Susan) Smith, and Douglas (wife Janine) Smith, her daughters: Linda Williams, Ellen College, Amy (husband Ron) Rossi, and Julie (husband Mark) DeZordo, her brother: Dr. Robert Hohman and her sisters: Audrey Bain and Norma Derrick.
