February 7, 1927 – November 18, 2024

Maxine Marie Lewelling passed away on November 18, 2024, in her residence at Sierra View Senior Living in Grass Valley surrounded by her loved ones. She was 97.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 2 at 11:00 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rough & Ready Highway, Grass Valley with a reception to follow at Casa Las Katarinas restaurant, 10100 Alta Sierra Drive, Grass Valley.

Maxine was born on February 7, 1927 in Mounds, OK to Henry and Cordia Boswell. At a very young age Maxine and Family drove to California and settled in Clovis, CA where she graduated from high school in 1945. She then met Cecil and they married in 1946. They were lovingly married for 75 years before Cecil’s passing.

Maxine loved to garden, cook and care for her family. She always made everyone feel like family. She was a member of Penn Valley Community Church.

She is survived by her daughters Diane (Jim) Hawkeswood and Debi (Bill) Kerr of Grass Valley, grandchildren Kelly (Mark) LaTorraca of Reno, NV, Jay Hawkeswood of Clear Lake, CA, Billy (Kelsea) Kerr of Ripon, CA, Justin (Shannon) Kerr of Paradise, CA, Gregory Kerr of Washington D.C., great grandchildren Clay, Madison and Chesney Hawkeswood, Kacey, Liam, Peyton and Paige Kerr.

She’s preceded in death by her parents Henry and Cordia Boswell, her husband Cecil, her sister Mildred Harker, and her brothers Wally, Clyde, Logan and Herman Boswell.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Partners In Care Hospice of Auburn, CA.
