Leonard Steven Coffee died on February 25th, 2023, in Grass Valley, after a battle with cancer. He was 78.

Lee was born in San Francisco on November 13, 1944, and held an MD/MPH from UCSF.

He was sharp, curious, and imaginative. Lee loved nothing more than to explore the wilderness of Northern California, and was happiest out on the river, fly fishing for steelhead. His passion for wildlife led him to devote his later years to fostering rescue dogs, and volunteering with Healing Waters, an organization that leads fly fishing trips for veterans.

Lee is survived by his partner Leanne, his three daughters Claire, Carrie, and Abbie, and his five grandchildren, who affectionately called him Grandpa Fish.
