Mahlon “Schmitty” Schmidt went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2020.

Graveside services will be held November 7, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley. He served in the Korean War. He graduated from UOP. He taught at Fremont Junior High School and later at Edison High School as head of the art depart. and yearbook advisor for 34 years. He got his preacher’s license at the age of 17 and continued to preach for 72 years. He gave of his time generously to his community to include set design for plays and ballet, teaching at the Blind Center and Adult Night School. He is survived by brother Bruce, daughters Kam and Lisa, grandchildren Andrew, Richard, Allison, Trever and Zak.
