Peggy Ann Cossairt was born July 28, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA. She was the oldest of 3 siblings.

She married G. Wayne Cossairt in 1965 whom she recently celebrated 61 years of marriage with. Peggy passed peacefully on August 28, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family just a month after her 83rd birthday.

When she was young she dreamed of being a forest ranger or a flight attendant. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from Cal Poly Pomona at a time when women were just beginning to be accepted into universities. She met the love of her life G. Wayne Cossairt while they were in university together and married shortly after meeting, spending their first years together getting out into the great outdoors. As Los Angeles sprawl continued at rapid pace, Peggy and Wayne chose to relocate their growing family to rural Nevada County to settle down by building their own house on a beautiful parcel of land.

Her most fond memories of her career are the time periods that she served as a teacher. She enjoyed traveling, road trips, family and friend gatherings, talking to everyone, gardening, lawn mowing the land she owned, dancing, and daydreaming.

Peggy loved spending time outside every day possible. Her love of the outdoors, -tons of wacky adventures from Mexico to Alaska, to Costa Rica, Burning Man- and camping all over the Pacific North West was shared with all her family. She truly loved sharing the world and seeing so many beautiful places through the joy seen in our eyes.

She was the center of the family universe. She was so proud of each of her kids, her daughter and son-in laws, and grandkids and took pride in knowing every detail of their lives. In addition, she never knew a stranger and always had a story to tell about meeting someone.
Peggy was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Arnold, and very dear friends. She is survived by her husband Wayne, her brother Danny, her 7 kids [Mike, Scott, RoJean, Darrick, Patric, LeAnne, Andrew], and her 9 grandkids [Logan, Corey, Kyler, Emily, Jacob, Jordan, Madalyn, Hannah, and Clara].
Peggy was always positive, thoughtful, accepting, and quick to see the silver lining of every situation. Her smile lit up every room and her joy radiated to all that ever met her. She will be deeply missed by her husband, family, friends, and acquaintances from all walks of life and forever remembered. We love you Peggy- We love you Mom- We love you Grandma!!! Rest in beautiful peace.
