Eleonore Lundmark

June 25, 1926 – June 1, 2026

Eleonore Grunewald Lundmark passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, just two weeks before her 100th birthday. She was born on June 25, 1926, in Mannheim, Germany, where she grew up during WWII and earned a degree in music at the renowned Heidelberg University.

While working as a civilian for the U.S. Army, she met Chester Lundmark. They married in 1952 and immigrated to the United States. After Chester completed his degree in electrical engineering at Penn State University, they moved to San Jose, California, where they raised their five children: Patricia, Michael, Christian, Sonesa, and Nicolas.

A gifted pianist and dedicated teacher, Eleonore taught piano lessons to hundreds of students. She was also a talented artisan who enjoyed making handmade gifts that were treasured by family and friends.

Eleonore and Chester retired to Nevada City, where she found great joy in the community. Her Catholic faith, quiet strength, and generous spirit guided her throughout her life.

She is survived by her five children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at St. Canice Catholic Church in Nevada City, followed by a reception at Eskaton Village in Grass Valley at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
