William (Bill) James Gallagher, 93, passed away March 7, 2026 in Grass Valley, CA. He was surrounded by his family. Bill was born April 8, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas to

Charles Henry & Mable (Templeton) Gallagher. He was the sixth of their seven children.

The family moved to Los Angeles in 1941. Bill graduated H.S. in 1950, attended L.A. State, served in the Korean War 52-53, and returned to finish his education at San Jose State in Education.

Bill met Louann Dougherty in 1959, his wife of 64yrs, they were married in 1960. They moved to Nevada City in the summer of 1963 as Bill started his role as principal at Seven Hills School (20yrs). Later he served as 4th grade teacher at Deer Creek School and retired in 1995. He was a good principal, he was a great teacher.

Bill and Louann had three children, W. Douglas, J. Scott, Kerrie Anne. The family was very involved in the church life of Calvary Bible Church, and they loved singing together. Bill also served faithfully in leadership at Calvary for almost 30 yrs.

Bill was present in life and dedicated to his Lord, family, church and work. He and Louann loved to entertain and laugh with all their wonderful friends they made over the years.

He was preceded in death by his son Douglas, and his wife Louann; he is survived by his son Scott and daughter Kerrie McCann, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 12 at 2:00pm at Calvary Bible Church in Grass Valley.
