John F (Jack) Lewis

John F (Jack) Lewis, 89, passed away April 19th, peacefully in Grass Valley California, surrounded by family and friends.

Jack was born June 24, 1936, in the Willow Valley area of Nevada City to John E. and Geneva Lewis.

He Graduated from Nevada Union High school in 1954, then served in the army from 1955 to 1959 then was called back in 1962 for one more years Following his service Jack was a dedicated engineer for the US Forest Service. Starting his career in the Tahoe National Forest and throughout many Northern California forests before he ended his career at the Mt Baker National Forest in Darrington, Washington.

Jack was a man of the outdoors, he love to camp, hunt, fish, and garden. Not one to be idle he then did what he loved to do most, he started his own successful handyman business. After 35 years in Darrington, Washington Jack returned home to the county he loved where he was able to spend his final years with his extended family.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Carol, his brother Richard (Dick) Lewis his five Children. April, Kathy (Brock Stiles), Eileen (Greg Moody), Nancy (Greg Jokkel), Michael (Phyliss), ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces including Jim and Sharon Lewis.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday October 10th at the Lewis Family Ranch.
