Mei An Kimberly Douros

Mei An Kimberly Douros, age 25, passed away on April 4, 2026 after a tragic motorcycle accident. Her memorial service will be held at Calvary Bible Church in Grass Valley on May 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. All who knew her are welcome to attend.

Mei was born in China, and after her adoption by the Douros family at the age of one, she grew up in Grass Valley with her four brothers. Her family was part of the loving congregation of Holy Trinity Church in Nevada City, and her childhood was centered within a large circle of family and friends.

Mei An went to elementary school at Scotten, middle school at Lyman Gilmore, and high school at SAEL (Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning), graduating in 2019. In 2020, she began working full-time at SPD Market in Grass Valley. She lived for a short time in Spokane, WA before returning to Grass Valley and her job at SPD in the spring of 2025.

Mei was quiet but plucky. As a small child, she loved animals and was an enthusiastic collector of bugs, lizards, and snakes, all of which she was unafraid to chase and catch. While in elementary and middle school, she spent much of her free time with her large flock of chickens and had an encyclopedic knowledge of their care, breeds, and habits. When not with animals, she was on wheels: skates, scooters, ripstick skateboards, and the like. At the age of 13, she rode her first dirt bike and was immediately hooked, her love of riding only increasing as she grew older. She raced, she taught, and she bought and sold bikes and cars with astonishing frequency. She was never happier than while riding, and the addition of a street motorcycle brought her into a community of riders, and with it, comradery and friendship. She was a skilled rider who often mentored and encouraged others, particularly other young women.

At SPD, Mei was known for her quick and beautiful smile and her readiness to help. She worked at remembering customers’ names so that she could greet them personally and had a particular affection for the elderly and disabled. Mei was known and loved by many SPD shoppers who enjoyed her greetings and conversation, and she benefitted from the kindness and support of her SPD work-family.

She leaves behind many grieving friends and families. She is survived by her grandmother, Dorothy Douros, her parents, Lou and Melinda Douros, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Blaise and Lindsey, Dustin and Kristal, Devon and Ellen, and Tynan, her nieces and nephew, Alida, Aurelia, Thalia and Diego, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Her death is a great loss to her family, her friends, and her community.
