David George Franc, 77 years of Grass Valley, CA, peacefully passed away on October 25, 2025.

Dave was born on November 9, 1947 to Clarence and Janette Franc in Cleveland, Ohio. The family moved to Long Beach, CA when Dave was in elementary school. After he graduated from Millikan High School in 1965, he earned a BA degree in history with a minor in German at California State University, Long Beach.

After graduation he worked in banking for over 37 years in roles spanning branch manager, bank auditor, commercial loan officer, and agricultural loan manager. He retired from Sacramento Valley Farm Credit in 2006.

In 1965 Dave met Mary at college and married in June of 1969. They moved to Grass Valley in 1973 where their son Benjamin was born and grew up. Dave was a loving husband of 56 years to Mary, father to Ben, grandfather to Matthew and Geoffrey, and brother to Carol.

Dave was passionate about taking care of his land and home. He was beyond a handyman and built his house and other buildings on his property. He also loved restoring old cars. Dave was proud of his son and his family and loved to listen to his grandsons recount their world adventures.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Scarcello, his wife Mary, his son Ben, and his grandsons Geoffrey and Matthew.

Graveside services will be Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 11am at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
