Patricia Marie (Slocum) Zanocco

Patricia Marie Zanocco, 77, of Nevada City, Ca. passed away on October 6, 2025. She passed peacefully at Springhill Manor in Grass Valley, Ca., where she fought a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Patricia was born on September 16, 1948, in Richmond, Ca. to C.C. Slocum and Margie Mae (Points) Romero.

Patty graduated from Mount Pleasant High School Class of 1966. She then attended Cosmetology School and became a hairdresser. Patty was a talented hairdresser for many years, known not only for her skill but for the warmth and kindness she brought to everyone she met. Patty made many longtime friends as a hairdresser.

Outside of work, she had a deep love for sewing and enjoyed creating beautiful things with her hands – whether it was a gift for a loved one or simply something for her home. She also loved creating beautiful quilts for loved ones alongside her mother, Margie.

Patty is survived by her daughter Amy Wasley (Andrew), her son James Vaughn (Cora), her Grandchildren Dylan, Drew, Davin, Alexandra, Megan, Wesley, Tyler, Kyle and Kaitlin. Her brothers James Sanderson, Jr. (Sue), Derrell Sanderson (Carol) Trevor Irvine (Michelle) and many dear in-laws. She is proceeded in death by her son Troy Vaughn in 2021, her parents Mickey (2014) and Margie (2015) Romero and her beloved husband Fred Zanocco in 2013. May their hearts find one another and rest in peace.

Patty will be buried with the love of her life at Sierra Memorial Lawn, Nevada City, Ca. There will not be a service at her request. Her family invites those who knew and loved her to join in remembering the joy she brought to so many.
