It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Joseph Bryan Stogner, III, who left us far too soon on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Joseph (Joe) Bryan Stogner, III was born November 23, 1971 to Joyce and Joseph Bryan Stogner II in Grass Valley. Joe lived most of his 53 years in Nevada City, with only a few years spent in Reno, NV.
Joe met his wife, Lori (Brehm) Stogner in 1989 and they were married in 1994. Together they had two sons, Jacob Stogner and Zachary Stogner. Joe spent over 25 years working in local grocery store meat departments, including Nevada City SPD, Safeway, and most recently, Raley’s.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bryan Stogner, II. He is survived by his wife, Lori, sons, Jacob and Zachary, his mother, Joyce Stogner, sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Danny Wheat, II, mother-in-law, Patty Brehm, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Kris Brehm, niece and nephew-in-law, Elisha and Kevin Zych, nephews, Tyler Scott, Jeremy Wheat, Aaron Wheat, and Lucas Wheat, as well as numerous great nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joe was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Known for his sharp sense of humor, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for his family, animals, and friends, he touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be a small graveside service for family only on Tuesday, October 7, and a pot luck style celebration of life open to friends and family will be held on Sunday, November 23. Location and time TBD.
