Janet Windz and Debbie Denise

Halona “Jordi” Rude

Janet Windz, PhD, FNP 11/20/1952 – 08/16/2025

Janet Windz, PhD, FNP, passed away on August 16th, 2025 as did her loving spouse Debbie Denise. Jan was an amazing mother, grandmother, and medical professional. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and always supported their dreams and aspirations. Jan was born on November 20, 1952, in North Hollywood, California to Lucille and Walter Ganz. She is survived by her daughter, Halona “Jordi” Rude (Michael B. Rude), her sons Josiah and Felix Windz, her grandsons Joe “Benny” Rude and Jamie Rude, her brother Phil Ganz (Monica Ganz), and niece Nicki Gellar (Martin Gellar) amongst other extended family. Mom was preceded in death by her mother and father (Lucille and Walter Ganz), her first wife (Katherine “KT” Ora Baldwin), and many beloved pets.

Jan first became a Registered Nurse on January 1, 1972. Through her lengthy career her specializations included working in emergency medicine, psychology/psychiatry, hospice, family practice, and geriatric medicine. Jan’s patients meant the world to her, and she loved that she was able to get to know so many of them and their families so well. She was a devoted Former Vice-President and Board Director of the Full Circle of Living and Dying Collective, former President of GALA in Humboldt County, avidly worked for LGBTQIA2S+ equality, and was involved in many other community and national organizations supporting human and animal rights. We have all lost a bright light with my mother’s passing, and she is already deeply missed.

Debbie Denise 08/12/1953 – 08/16/2025

Debbie Denise (AHLF), passed away on August 16th, 2025 as did her loving spouse Janet Windz. She was an incredible mother, stepmother, grandmother, mentor, and friend to many. Debbie was born into this world with determination and a zest for life on August 12th, 1953. She lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and France before making her forever home in Nevada County in the late 1980’s. Her many accomplishments include being a talented musician, singer, and model, a devoted correctional officer for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department, and becoming a Professor of Quantum Theory at UC Berkeley. In truth, we truly believe that there was nothing that Debbie could not do if she set her mind to it.

Debbie was also an avid Harley-Davidson rider. In 2016, she joined an all-female motorcycle club called The Rhinestone Riders, going by the nickname of “Lambchop Ryder.” Debbie eventually became a Road Captain and a member of the board for the group. She was also a member and former leader of the Ladies of H.O.G. (Harley-Davidson Owners Group) Sierra Thunder Chapter based in Folsom, CA. Debbie helped to organize many a group ride along with other motorcycle events. She loved being a support to other female motorcycle enthusiasts.

Debbie was preceded in death by her first wife, Dian Luana “Lu” Berry. Debbie and Lu met Jan and KT in the late 1990’s and were good friends for many years. Both Debbie and Lu were of great support to Jan when KT died in 2008 and Jan was a source of support to Debbie when Lu passed away in 2020. Over the next several years, Debbie and Jan’s relationship deepened and grew into a beautiful love story. They were married on July 24th, 2023, in Humboldt County. They loved each other deeply and honestly till they both took their last breaths. We have all lost an amazing force of good with Debbie’s passing and she is deeply missed.
