June 24, 1939 – October 28, 2024

Rick was born in Cloverdale CA to Lucy and Roy Kauffman. He grew up with 4 wonderful siblings, a love of the outdoors and a traveling spirit.

Rick spent his working years teaching, painting, and serving as a mechanic in Air Force.

The couple moved to Grass Valley in 2008 and Rick could often be found reading on the front porch or tinkering away on his writings and crafts.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Fran Kauffman, Son Rich Kauffman (Lisa, Kooper), Daughter Elle Kauffman (Taelyn), Daughter Raelene Kauffman (Lucy), Brother Ron Kauffman (Betty), Brother Dale Kauffman (Dina), Sister Carmen Shook (Randy), Brother in Law Dick Hammat (Sharon), along with all the niece and nephews that he loved watching grow and flourish.

Preceded in death by Sister Dawn and Brother in Law Wayne Temple, Mother Lucy Kauffman, Father Roy Kauffman, Mother in Law Arlene Hammat and Father in Law Giles Hammat, Nephews Steve Kauffman and Jeff Temple.

A celebration of life will be held at The Love Building, in Grass Valley, on 8/31/2025 at 1pm
