John Dickerson

November 28, 1940 – August 5, 2025
John Dickerson passed peacefully on August 5, 2025, at home surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born in Modesto, CA, Dickerson was a graduate of El Camino High School in Sacramento. He attended the University of California in Berkeley where he was a member of the Californians and Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He met his first wife, Barbara Keeler Dickerson, at Cal and raised two beautiful daughters and four terrific grandchildren. Barbara died in 2002.
Before graduating he joined the US Army Reserve, serving mostly at Fort Ord, California, and was honorably discharged as Sergeant First Class. During his service he completed his education and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Degree from Sacramento State College and began a 27-year career at Wells Fargo Bank.
With Wells Fargo, Dickerson held various positions in California including branch banking positions in Yuba City, Marysville, Lodi, and Grass Valley and commercial banking positions in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He retired from Wells Fargo as Vice President and Manager of the eight Mother Lode branches in Northern California. Not done with Community Banking, he moved to Red Bluff and was named President of Mid Valley Bank, where he served until the bank was sold in 2004.
Dickerson married Joan Blocker Dickerson in 2005 and began a new and exciting bucket list, partnership life that included 13 years in residence on the island of Kauai and magical times during the summers in Redding and Bailey Creek, California. He was a Charter Member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Redding – Riverview Sunset.
Dickerson was predeceased by his parents, Byrne and Rosamond Dickerson and his first wife, Barbara. He is survived by his best friend and spouse, Joan, brother Ed Dickerson (Pleasanton), daughters Kathleen Whitlow (Glenn) & Kristi Darzynkiewicz (Robert), grandchildren Ian, Jordan, Megan and Lauren (all of Truckee).
