Lawrence H. Casserly III
November 13, 1955 – November 16, 2024
Lawrence H. Casserly III, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, musician, and friend, passed away on November 16, 2024, just days after celebrating his 70th birthday. Born on November 13, 1955, in Marysville, California, Larry, as he was affectionately known, spent his last days in Nevada City, surrounded by the love of his wife and community.
He cherished his relationship with his dear wife, Patricia Johnston-Casserly, and found immense love for his son, Ryan Casserly.
Music was the rhythm of Larry’s soul. As a talented bassist, he played in various bands in the Nevada City area and the early days of the SF Bay Area, bringing joy and harmony to all those who heard him. His passion for music extended beyond performing, as he volunteered as a DJ on a local radio station, KVMR, sharing his eclectic taste and love for music with the community.
Larry’s other great love was fishing. He often found peace by the water, casting his line and enjoying the simple beauty of nature. Larry connected deeply with his surroundings and those he held dear during these moments.
Through music, radio, or his renewed faith, he touched many lives with his sense of humor and warmth.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia, and his cherished son, Ryan. His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, and his family and friends will deeply miss him.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Larry’s life will be held on July 15th, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 235 Chapel St, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the extraordinary life of a man who touched so many.
We remember a life filled with love, music, and laughter as we bid farewell. His passing was unexpected and sudden, and we miss him greatly. But in our hearts, Larry’s bass will forever play on.
