Julieta Phillips

Julieta Phillips passed away on June 4, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 96.

Funeral mass will be held on June 18th at 10:30am at St. Patrick’s Church at 235 Chapel St., Grass Valley, CA 95945. Burial will take place on June 26th at 2pm at Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery located at 22555 Cristo Rey Dr., Los Altos, Ca 94024.

She was born on Sept 4, 1928 in Tengen, Germany to Augusto and Mathilde Lutz. Her family immigrated to Costa Rica where she lived until she married her husband Charles E. Phillips in 1950. They immigrated to the United States in 1951. She is survived by her children Georgianne Boissier, Chuck Phillips and Patricia Byrge, grandchildren Bernadine Hill, Tracey Hockinson, Danielle Phillips, Jessica Coen, Lyndsey Coen, Brea Anne Hylan, Christopher Barbera and Emily Barbera, great-grandchildren Amber Hill, Douglas Hockinson, Hannah Hockinson, Nikolas Hylan, Avery Barbera and Braxton Barbera. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years and her daughters Katrina Cortise and Bernadine Barbera.

As a devout Catholic, she and Charles were eucharistic ministers. They both volunteered at the Interfaith Food Ministry. She was loving and generous to all her family and friends and will be sorely missed.

She loved being a homemaker. She knitted, crocheted and was a brilliant seamstress. She designed and made her daughters’ wedding dresses and sewed amazing gowns for her granddaughters. She made porcelain dolls for all the grandkids.

She loved swimming, playing tennis and poker.

She was sharp of mind and young at heart up until her last days.
