Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Angove

Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Angove – 1934 to April 28, 2025 (Age 90).
A descendant of the Cornish miners who moved to California in the 1850s, Jerry Angove was born in 1934, in Grass Valley, California. Jerry was the son of Norman and Edith Angove, and he had three younger brothers and one younger sister.
Jerry was the final student body president at Grass Valley High School where he graduated in 1952, and excelled as a pole vaulter and football player. He earned an athletic scholarship to play football for Stanford University and received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. Jerry earned a PhD in Education from the University of Southern California in 1973.
In 1957, Jerry began his career in education as a track coach and English instructor at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California. He went on to become Dean of Student Personnel Services and Vice President and Dean of Instruction at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. In 1975, he was appointed President and District Superintendent of Sierra College in Rocklin, California. Jerry served in this role until his retirement in 1993. Under his leadership, the college experienced significant growth, with enrollment increasing from approximately 4,000 to nearly 14,000 students. During this period, Sierra College expanded its services, including opening a childcare center, establishing a nursing program, and funding the aquatics complex at the Rocklin campus. Jerry was also instrumental in bringing a satellite campus of Sierra College to his hometown of Grass Valley, California.
Jerry was married to Sally Phillips for 24 years and they had three boys. In 1990, he married Connie Renner, and they lived together in Nevada County, California. They were both actively involved in the community. In addition to Connie and Sally, Jerry is survived by their combined four sons, seven grandchildren, one brother and his sister.
