John Klein

It is with profound sadness that the Klein Family announce the passing of John Frederick Klein, the Klein Family Patriarch, who left mortality at the age of 76; just six days prior to his 77th birthday. John was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all. John brought warmth, laughter, and love to all that knew him and even those that didn’t know him. He was a true example and disciple of the Savior Jesus Christ.
Born on December 12, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, to Frederick and Dixie Klein. The family took up roots in the Sierra Nevada foothills. John was called to serve a full-time mission to spread the gospel and serve the people of Texas from January 1967 -1969. Shortly after returning from his mission, John met Karen in February, and the two were married on August 30, 1969. The couple had seven children namely, David, Kristi, Tami, Jeremy, Jordan (deceased), Breanne, and Ashley.
John was known for his service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a Bishop for 6 years and served on the Stake High Council for a total of fifteen years. He was a dedicated servant to the Lord.
John had many talents which included playing the harmonica and guitar, he was passionate about gardening, hiking, and backpacking, but his absolute true passion was building, working on, and showing classic vehicles. John was a proud member of the Roamin’ Angels Car Club where he and his family served the organization for many years. John’s children, their spouses and grand-children looked forward to the opportunity to participate in the annual car show registration. The tradition of grandpa taking them early in the morning to buy donuts and hot chocolate, and the Hot Wheel races during the day will be cherished.
John is preceded in death by and reunited with his mother and father, Fred and Dixie, and his son Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Karen; brother Howard (wife Denise); children: David Klein; Kristi Boehmer (husband: Rob); Tami Strong (husband: Thomas); Jeremy Klein (wife: Rebecca); Breanne Smith (husband: Blake); Ashley MacLaurin (husband: Sean); 31 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and so many more that considered themselves a part of the Klein family.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, December 13th, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Nevada City Chapel located at 615 Hollow Way, Nevada City, CA, 95959. A viewing is scheduled at 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m., with the burial immediately following at the adjoining Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
