Funeral

Funerals

A funeral provides an important chance for family and friends to honor their loved one. This time for a final goodbye is appropriate whether you choose burial or cremation. At Hooper & Weaver, our professional staff specializes in funeral services that provide a personalized occasion of remembrance. We strive to exceed families’ expectations in creating meaningful tributes to celebrate each unique life.

We uphold a standard of excellence that respects all cultures, rites and traditions while preserving family and community history. Our staff is happy to discuss any of our services in detail to ensure a comforting experience in keeping with every family’s wishes.

Traditional Funeral Service

Typically, a service held either at our mortuary chapel or at the church of the family’s choice. Religious beliefs, ethnic heritage and personal preference all play a role in determining what location would be the most appropriate for the service. Some religions prefer services be held in their church, while others prefer mortuary facilities be used.

The casket may be open or closed during the ceremony, depending again on religious custom and personal preference. Following the chapel or church service, family and friends usually drive to the cemetery for a committal or graveside service – often a very brief ceremony involving a final prayer or blessing.

Visitation

Usually held at the mortuary a day prior to the service, visitation allows family and friends to view the person who has passed away, to visit with family and to say goodbye in a less structured setting than the subsequent funeral service.

Graveside Services

A graveside service may follow – or provide an alternative to – a traditional chapel or church funeral. Held outdoors, with most people standing, graveside services have a tendency to be simpler and briefer than a church or chapel funeral.

Memorial

Conducted without casket present, memorial services can be held in our chapel, the church of your choice or any location that would be meaningful to you. If cremation is involved, the family may choose to have the cremated remains present. Photographs, flowers or personal mementoes reflective of the decedent can also be arranged as the focal point of the service.

Military Honors

Most US military branches have special customs to commemorate your loved one’s service to his/her country. These customs can be incorporated into most funeral options, including those at our mortuary or cemeteries. Our staff will assist your family in facilitating wishes for a military service.

Fraternal Organization Services

Available to any family that wants to acknowledge their loved one’s membership commitment in the funeral or memorial service. Our staff will contact the organization and help coordinate their participation in the service.
