Norma Joyce Gum

Norma Joyce Gum passed away on April 12, 2017. She was 85.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.

Norma Joyce Cargile was born on March 19, 1932 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to James O. Cargile and Delia L. Helmer. The family came to California in 1941 settling in the San Francisco Bay Area. She moved to Grass Valley in 1966.

She enjoyed her family, square dancing, sewing, crocheting and gardening.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Diana Haines of Grass Valley; sons, Daryl Haines of Tyler, Texas and Derek Haines of Grass Valley; stepsons, Daryl Gum of Carmel and Kevin Gum of Bothell, Washington; sisters, Delores Reeder and Gertie King; brother, John Cargile; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two more on the way!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Dale Haines Sr. and husband of 17 years Russell Gum; son Dale Haines Jr.; and brother James Cargile.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Atria’s Life Guidance Center for the love and wonderful care they gave her in her final months.

Arrangements are under the care of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
